In 1998 top UK R&B producer Blacksmith (Another Level, Eternal etc.) heard Noora sing for the first time. He had received a single song from Norway to remix, but was so impressed with what he heard, that he wanted to get seriously involved in the album. So the album was producedby the Norwegian production-team StarGate (All Saints, Glamma Kid & Shola Ama, S Club 7, Mariah Carey) together with Blacksmith. According to the press Blacksmith’s beats and Noora’s voice are a match made in heaven. The result is Noora’s debut-album: CURIOUS. Noora was born in the United Arabic Emirates by Somali parents in 1980. When she was 5 years old she performed for the very first time in her original home town of Dubai. She and her family left for Norway shortly thereafter, as her father had been active in politics in Somalia and therefore they couldn’t return there. Noora grew up in one of the suburban areas just outside Oslo. On CURIOUS, Noora shows off her vocal skills with great taste. The album includes the edgy single Need You, featuring UK rapper Bengrim, via the funky duet This Is What We Like with US artist Gina Thompson (Rodney Jerkins, MC Lyte). In Norway she has had 5 hit songs on radio from this album. The biggest hits being Need You, Curious and Official. CURIOUS was first released last year in only Japan and Norway. This has resulted in total sales of around 50.000. The single “Need You” has been released in England, and the video for the song is viewed on MTV. Noora has performed live at several clubs in London and the Notting Hill Festival. Noora has been touring with her band in Scandinavia this year and receives excelent reviews. Her debut album is now released in Germany, Scandinavia and other parts of Asia with more countries to be added throughout this Summer.
