Contact Crazy Wolf Entertainment to book Brenda Jones
Brenda Jones
About Brenda Jones The Brenda Jones Experience: Any true lover of music can appreciate a powerful singer—a singer that leaves you in awe after mesmerizing you with a mystical blend of melody and lyrics, descended upon your ears with angelic-like wings. There's something extraordinary about a singer who moves, stirs and touches your very soul in musical ways you never knew existed. That's the Brenda Jones Experience. Who is Brenda Jones? She and her sisters made up "The Jones Girls," the Detroit trio that charted during the late 70's and early 80's with hits like “You Gonna Make Me Love Somebody Else” and the breezy jazz-laden "Nights Over Egypt.” Their professional career began with the popular Dick Scott Revue, a mid-west regional show that included the Dramatics. The sister act opened for Little Richard and the Four Tops playing 3500-seat venues. Famed writing and production team Holland-Dozier-Holland signed the girls to record after catching one of the shows. Together the Jones Girls provided backing vocals for a host of recording luminaries like Aretha Franklin, Lou Rawls, Teddy Pendergrass, Norman Connors, Curtis Mayfield and Linda Clifford to name just a few. However, it was the tour with Diana Ross that segued into a major label deal yielding four albums on the Philadelphia International Records and a subsequent release on RCA Records. But as dynamic as the Jones Girls were as an ensemble, they had just as much to offer individually. And this time it's Brenda who takes the spotlight. As a solo artist Brenda has worked with Peabo Bryson, Isaac Hayes, King Floyd, Jermaine Jackson, Mary McGregor and other notables. Her voice has been featured as a step out on numerous recordings because of its beauty and tone. Brenda has an identifiable core to her voice that piques your interest and sustains it. A student of the 'vocal past', she idolizes singers like Sarah Vaughan, Carmen McRae, and Nancy Wilson, emulating that same depth of artistic prowess. She has a freedom of delivery where the notes seem to leave her without obstacle, contrivance or force. Brenda’s voice is individual, of superior quality of sound. It showcases her timbre and sultry musical personality. Her low notes speak to the listener with directness and simplicity, and this same ability extends to the very top of her range. And if nothing else grabs you, for sure her captivating emotion will. As singing legacies go, Brenda Jones is still a very present force to be reckoned with.

The Funky Fritters
The Funky Fritters
“With undeniable chemistry and chops, this band guarantees capital ‘GT’ good times!" -Dan Herman Radio Crystal Blue

When was the last time you walked into a club and saw a big, powerhouse band, complete with horns and backup singers, filling the room with rockin’, down ‘n’ dirty blues, New Orleans classics, soulful R&B, and infectious funk – the kind of music that makes you want to leap from your seat and dance?

For the founders of the revived Funky Fritters, guitarists Danny Drexler (Whooz Blues, Whisky River, Catfish John) and Jay Gracin (Whooz Blues) and lead singer Isaac-Davy Aronson, it had been far too long, and in 2005 they decided to start playing the kind of music they wanted to hear.

“When I would tell friends to come down and see my band,” Isaac recalls, “they’d agree reluctantly, preparing themselves for some alt-rock or emo-pop imitation that most young musicians they know are involved in. One of the most fulfilling things about being in The Funky Fritters is to see people come for the first time and be blown away by the kind of band they didn’t even think existed anymore – an 11-person blues powerhouse that plays the kind of music that you feel deep down in your bones. Then they’re hooked, and they can’t stop coming back!”

The Funky Fritters have been proving for years that the blues is alive and well, entertaining audiences across New York City with their fun, soulful, and house-rockin’ performances of blues and New Orleans classics. Their following has grown exponentially as they’ve brought the blues to some of New York’s hottest live venues, including The Baggot Inn, Parkside Lounge, and Kenny’s Castaways. Their annual Fat Tuesday show at Ace of Clubs is a huge draw and one of the best Mardi Gras parties north of the Mason-Dixon!

Originally founded by Danny in 2003 as Ma Skillet and the Funky Fritters, the new Funky Fritters are back and better than ever! The core band is rounded out by bassist Robert Gingery (Visible From Space w/American Idol finalist Judd Harris, Lou Volpe, Matthew Puckett), drummer Craig Stewart and Dan Nachimson on keyboards. They’re joined on backing vocals by the Funky Frittatas, Cheyenne Picardo and Shira Silberg, who add a dash of doo-wop on tunes like “The Weight” and belt the blues on classics such as “Something You Got.”

The Fritters’ horn section features The incomparable Dave Mullen on Tenor Sax, who, in addition to his own band Butta, has played with such notables as John Hicks, G Love & Special Sauce, Delfeayo Marsalis, P-Funk, The Brand New Heavies, Roy Ayers, Nile Rogers, The True fellowship Gospel Choir and the Groove Collective. Visit him at http://www.davemullen.com, Ryan Resky on Trumpet (John Pizzarelli, Jane Monheit, Harloyn Blackwell) & Bradley Madsen on Trombone ( The George Maurer Group, Blue Nitrous, The Sharp Things, The Minneapolis Trombone Choir & The Oort Cloud Collective)
