Who Are You-A Celebration of The Who
WHO ARE YOU-A Celebration of The Who. This isn’t a WHO tribute band, per se. It is not a WHO impersonation. It is something else. Based in the Berkshires, MA and touring throughout the northeast, WHO ARE YOU captures the raw energy of a WHO performance, with a spot-on recreation of Pete Townshend’s synthesizer tracks. When you hear the band play songs like BABA O’RILEY and WON’T GET FOOLED AGAIN, you will think you seeing a real WHO concert.

“We’ve made a conscious effort to remain accurate to The Who’s material,” says guitarist Garrett Lechowski. “This is a band that was known for these legendary hits, which have such a distinctive sound. Deviating from them would be huge mistake, as the audience expects these songs to sound like the record. I think they are genuinely stunned when they hear the synthesizer parts begin.” He adds, “we also focus on the energy and improvisation that is also a key aspect to a Who show.”

Augmenting the band are singer Craig Simmons, drummer John Kiernan and, surprisingly, female bassist Diane Vittone.

“Yes, she is actually our secret weapon,” Garrett adds. “We played Rochester, NY a few months ago and the bassist for the other band thought she was the GIRLFRIEND of our bass player! ‘Oh, isn’t that cute’ type of nonsense. Little do people know that she is a ridiculously good player and can sing all of the high John Entwistle vocal parts. This is a band that, traditionally, is very masculine in nature. I think people are surprised and thrilled about her being a member. She is a strong, detailed-oriented professional and we are extremely lucky to have her in the band.”

Regarding Simmons and Kiernan, Garrett says, “Craig is one of the nicest gentleman you could ever meet. And he can singer HIGHER than Roger Daltrey. As for John, he is probably the most solid rock drummer I’ve ever played with professionally.”

With songs like MY GENERATION and MAGIC BUS…anything can/will happen. Be it the occasional smashing of a guitar, large chunks of Pete Townshend’s brilliant rock operas TOMMY and QUADROPHENIA or the odd WHO “B-side” track, you are guaranteed a memorable night of WHO classics.
