Jason Konik After playing in a multitude of bands with styles ranging from funk to rock to punk to metal to ska to reggae, picking up the guitar and drums along the way, Jason began playing upright bass in a jazz group that opened his eyes to the world of acoustic music. After a hiatus from music in his late teen years, Jason began to write songs and record as a solo artist for the first time in 2003. In early 2005, Jason left Chicago for the west coast, settling in San Diego, California for a while. This experience provided rich creative material, and influenced his songwriting greatly. After experimenting with a wide array of styles from his eariler days, Jason discovered his voice through folk music upon his arrival in Charlottesville, Virginia in late 2005. Now, he plays guitar and harmonica concurrently and sings. With roots in rootlessness, Jason sings of his forebearers' wanderings through war-torn Europe and across the Atlantic as well as his own travels across America. He hopes you enjoy this direction in his life and music, and that you learn from his experiences and the experiences of his family in his songs. In his spare time, Jason enjoys working on his doctorate in history at the University of Virginia and hiking in the Blue Ridge Mountains near Charlottesville.
