Jason DavisJason Davis
Jason Davis is a 31 year old seasoned saxophonist, composer and music producer from in Dallas, Texas. He began performing classical clarinet solos around town at age 8. Jason feel in love with the tone of the saxophone and quickly switched over to tenor sax. At age 20 he recorded with the grammy award winning gospel ensemble God's Property. This effort lead to a world tour and some national television apperances. After 6 years of performing and touring Mr. Davis started his own band and found himself in charge of the Dallas Young Lions Jazz Project. This group of young jazz players have been invited to play at art events all over the southwest. A teaching positon was created within the Dallas Independent School District for Jason to teach music to middle school students. For 3 years he provided master classes for string, band, chior and piano students at Pearl C. Anderson Learning Center. Jason Davis now leads his own jazz quintet that has appeared in shows with Roy Ayers, David "fat head" Newman, Roy Hargrove, Eraykah Badu and a special performance for the Mexican Consulate General. As a studio artist he has recorded with the jazz groups Pieces of a Dream, The Dallas Jazz Orchestra, The Page 43 Art Ensemble of Dallas and several self produced jazz compilations. Jason Davis better known as DA mayor is credidited for horn arrangememnts on singer N'Dambis' Tunin up and Cosigning Double CD. He has been music director for N'Dambi @ the Caravan of Dreams in Ft. Worth and The Rock group Seven on Soft while touring the east coast. The Dallas Morning News featured Jason Davis in an article spotlighting the growing Dallas Jazz Scene and the art form that Davis created called Huesic. His sideman experience includes Sandra Kaye, Redd Young, The Impressions, Cuba Godding Sr., Onzy Matthews and Dolphin Crusies Lines. Residencies, community service and educational perfomances include DIFFA Dallas, The American Cancer Society, The Black Forest, Jazz Artist in Residence at the South Side on Lamar, Southern Methodist University, University of Texas, Texas College and The Huesic School. Presently, Jason Davis is recording his live performances, finishing his second jazz method book and performing with small groups, brass bands, big bands and vocalist all over the USA.
