Grammy award winning writer, Bob Blumenthal describes Julie Hardy as "...a singer with admirable intonation and time, excellent taste, and feeling well beyond her years." Julie is a vocalist who is on her way to becoming one of the most important voices in today's jazz scene. With a voice that contains an element of romance and a hint of seductiveness, she delivers a diverse program of timeless standards and creative arrangements of pop classics.

Julie Hardy is "...a singer well equipped to handle everything modern jazz vocalism demands: candlelit standards ("My Romance"), repurposed pop hits ("And I Love Him"), effortless improvisation and a strong writer's pen,” proclaims Time Out New York. She carefully chooses repertoire based on a strong, personal connection and her goal is to tell a story. "My music is from the heart and I care about the lyrics, so when people hear me, I hope they feel this and are touched." With a warm demeanor and timeless beauty, she captivates and enthralls audiences nationwide.

Julie is backed by a spectacular collection of some of New York's best young jazz talents including Jaleel Shaw (alto saxophone), John Ellis (soprano and tenor saxophones), Randy Ingram (piano), Matt Clohesy (bass), and Kendrick Scott (drums). Collectively they have performed with jazz luminaries such as Roy Haynes, Terence Blanchard, John Scofield, Charlie Hunter, Christian McBride, Maria Schneider, Nicholas Payton, and Dianne Reeves.

In 2005, Julie’s debut release "A Moment's Glance" (Fresh Sound New Talent) opened the ears of jazz fans around the world to Julie's potential and captured the attention of the jazz world’s most respected critics. Jazz Times says, "..ingenious covers...and perspicacious originals...Hardy lives, like [Kurt] Elling and [Bobby] McFerrin, in a musical world of her own, and it is a marvelously dynamic place." Julie celebrated this disc’s release with a full house at the Jazz Standard in New York City in April 2005. Later that year, she was selected to perform at the Diet Coke Women in Jazz Festival at Jazz at Lincoln Center. In addition to the Jazz Standard and Jazz at Lincoln Center she has performed at Sweet Rhythm, Birdland, Smoke, Cornelia Street Café, and 55 Bar among others.

Julie grew up in Fremont, New Hampshire and started to sing at a very young age, improvising and writing her own songs. She began to study classical piano at age 9. She was introduced to jazz in high school and attended the University of New Hampshire, where she studied both classical and jazz composition as well as piano and voice. She received a scholarship to attend the prestigious New England Conservatory of Music in Boston, which allowed Julie to expand her musical horizons even further. She received her Masters in Jazz Performance in 2001.
