The only man in NBA history honored as Coach of the Year three separate times, Don Nelson was named head coach of the New York Knicks on July 6, 1995. Over 18 seasons as an NBA head coach, (11 with the Milwaukee Bucks and seven with the Golden State Warriors) he seized seven division championships and appeared in three Championship Finals. In 1994 he led USA's "Dream Team II" to the gold medal at the World Chamionship of Basketball in Toronto.
