Former Republican United States Senator Mark Hatfield is an American political legend. In 1968, Mark was elected to the Senate, and quickly distinguished himself as a leading voice for human rights, nuclear disarmament, and the peaceful resolution of international conflicts. He was also a major advocate for improving health, education, and social services programs. In private life, he has returned to the college classroom, serving as guest lecturer at leading universities while serving on numerous local and national boards and commissions, including the FDR Memorial Commission and the Coalition for Christian Colleges and Universities.
