Award-winning journalist Alan Murray is one of Washington's most respected political commentators. He is a regular panelist on PBS's Washington Week in Review and an occasional guest on NBC's Meet the Press and Sunday Today. In November 1993, Murray joined The Wall Street Journal as a reporter covering economics in its Washington bureau and went on to become deputy bureau chief and a contributor to the paper's "Outlook" column. He and Jeffrey Birnbaum wrote Showdown at Gucci Gulch: Lawmakers, Lobbyists, and the Unlikely Triumph of Tax Reform, a book published by Random House. In 1991, the Overseas Press Club awarded Mr. Murray a citation for business reporting for "Strained Alliance," a series of five stories examining relations between the U.S. and Japan.
