This sound awes today’s younger generation as well as titillates the soul of the young at heart who grew up doing the Mashed Potato, the Jerk, and the Boogaloo. The SOUL CITY FAT BACK HORNETS feature trumpeters Barry Nitikman and famed Los Angeles session man Bill Barrett. The powerful bottom end of Jacob Bonneau’s baritone sax, Greg Cooper’s Tenor Sax Sound, and Wild Man Harry Goodnight’s trombone complete this grooving Memphis SOUL Horn section. Ernest “Tubbs” Knapp grooves the “Cropperesque Shuck” guitar. The quintessential New Orleans keyboard stylings of Bob Childs flavor this SOUL revue of America. “Sure-Enuff” Shiras pugnacious Bass sound fits right in the pocket with the robust pulse of famed Chicago sticks on skin man John Chapman.
