Since 1988, Robb Armstrong has been captivating audiences with tales of Joe and Marcy - the comic strip couple whose daily lives fill the cells of Armstrong's "Jump Start." Armstrong, who is one of only four syndicated African-American cartoonists, uses his unique position and live drawings to offer readers an authentic, positive representation of middle-class African-Americans. The strip, which is now syndicated in over 200 newspapers, is known for its poignant portrayal of such issues as family values, getting along with neighbors and cultural campaigns for the American Diabetes Association, the American Cancer Society and others. Armstrong recently published his first graphic novel, Jump Start: A Love Story, which contains 80 previously unpublished flashback-style cartoons that tell Joe and Marcy's early love story.
