When Tom Jackson made Calgary his base of operations in January, 1996, he tapped directly into the city's rich cultural environment to further his dedication to charitable causes and numerous business initiatives.

Born on the One Arrow reserve in Saskatchewan and raised in Winnipeg, Tom broke from the pack at an early age. Leaving school by age 15, Tom voluntarily lived life in and around the city's back streets until age 22. Tough times that formed the rock solid foundation of this talented entertainer and savvy businessman.

Tom dedicates enormous energy and commitment to all his projects. However, his first love is music and his true career, charity work. The recent release of Tom's newest album That Side of the Window highlights the blend of his love for music and his commitment to those often ignored or sidelined by society. Tempered with city gravel, his deep baritone resonates with an understanding of street life. Songs like Light One More Candle and the single That Side of the Window are works from his soul. "Many people inspire me but my heart is with the people who live on the street", says Tom.

That Side of the Window was a year-long project achieved in collaboration with Randall Prescott, 10-time CCMA award-winning Producer of the Year. Recorded in Calgary at Sundae Sound and Lakeside Studio in Ontario, a talented cross-section of Canadian musicians gathered to contribute their vocal and technical skills. As co-producer, Randall was a perfect match for Tom as they combined their musical artistry, production skills and philanthropic commitments.

Most Canadians are familiar with The Huron Carole, the benefit series that Tom describes as the joy of his life and the thing that makes him tick. In 1997, the Huron Carole Benefit Series Tour raised over $300,000, all of which goes to The Canadian Association of Food Banks. Over the 10 years of its existence, The Huron Carole has raised over $1 million actual dollars for the CAFB; an amount that translates into over $20 million worth of supplies and services for Canadian food banks.

Tom is an initiator. He always has several projects happening and many more in the "let's do" stage. From music to business, acting to disaster relief, Tom's keen sense of where he can help, prevails. Nothing happens "just cause".
