Darrell James & The Longriders
Proficient on the guitar, mandolin, banjo and peddle steel, Darrell's first love, however, was the drums. At the age of 5, Darrell decided that he wanted to learn how to play the drums, so he sold his horse and bought his first drum set. By 1988 he had made it into the Guiness Book of World Records for having the world's largest drum set. In 1988, Darrell became the front man for the newly formed group, Darrell James & The Longriders. At this point he stopped playing the drums and stuck to what he knew best -- entertaining. For the past ten years The Longriders have been playing the club circuit as well as special events and rodeos. Opening for Billy Ray Cyrus in Edmonton and Prairie Oyster in Calgary, stand foremost in Darrell's mind. They were also the opening act for Tracy Lawrence, Hal Ketchum, Ricky Van Shelton and the Oak Ridge Boys at the Big Valley Jamboree in Camrose.
