Being Genuine isn't a learned personality trait. You either are or you aren't," remarks 20 yr. Old singer/ songwriter Graham Colton. Driven by his powerful tenor and warm stage presence, Colton has been compared to artists ranging from Duncan Sheik to Elliot Smith.

Colton grew up in Oklahoma City listening to his dad's band rehearsing in the living room. "I memorized every song in their set which mostly covered the British Invasion stuff, just so I could sing along," says Graham. By the age of twelve, he was hooked on bands like the Kinks, Tom Petty, and The Byrds.

During his freshman year at Southern Methodist University, Colton choose to spend the majority of his time unlike most students. When not performing at the local pubs and coffee houses, he was developing his songwriting skills in his dorm room. "I would wait until my roommate went out for the night and write until he returned," says Colton. He quickly became a regular in the Deep Ellum music scene performing weekly at renowned clubs like Trees and the Gypsey Tea Room. It was there he met both Cary Pierce, who would later produce Graham's debut cd, and current band mate "Turtle."

Immediately, Graham went into the studio and began recording. He enlisted Sean Hurley (Vertical Horizon) and Mitch Marine (Smashmouth) to provide the rhythm tracks. "It was amazing to hear the acoustic based songs come to life," says Colton. Soon after, Graham and Turtle found themselves writing new songs between recording sessions. "The chemistry was electric," says Colton. Guitarist Drew Nichols found his place into the group after one studio session followed by Drummer Jordan Elder and bassist Ryan Tallent.

Since then, Graham has shared the stage with Train, Blues Traveler, John Mayer, Evan and Jaron, Bob Schneider, and Flickerstick to name a few. His passion is immediately evident the moment he walks on stage and embraces an audience. "I'm not sure anyone ever actually arrives and says this is the place. The fact is, we've all been inspired by someone or something sometime in our lives. If I am able to produce that kind of emotion for myself and others, that's the ultimate!"
