THE JESSE JANES were friends before they were a ‘girl group.’ They were hanging out in the same café, and when one of them was on stage, the other two would sing harmony from their seats. After realizing how good it sounded, they started getting together in each other’s homes once a week to sing and their first incarnation as The Cover Girlz was born. To the delight of all who knew them individually, they started playing out together. When they began to add original material to their repertoire, they became The Jesse Janes and have been riding together ever since.

PEGGY ATWOOD is a world traveler and her music shows it. She used to call it "neo-esoteric crossover folk country pop rock," but now, thanks to an astute listener, she calls it “Northern Country.” This is also the title of one of her CDs, the other being “Renegade of the Light Brigade.” Peggy says, “I did have semi-classical training, listened to everyone from Dylan to Elvis, Yma Sumac to Dusty Springfield, and awoke every day to the sound of the muezzin calling from the minarets, and it all got thrown in the hopper, and voila!” With a voice that has been compared to everyone from Joni Mitchell to Bonnie Raitt, Peggy sings and writes in her own pure, unique voice.

TERRI MASSARDO has been singing forever.... OK in front of people for about 18 years. Her love for music began with her Dad who had his own band called the Hallions. Terri’s first PDS (public display of singing) was in 1993 with her first band Yankee Rose. She still performs with them from time to time singing a mixture of folk, blues and rock. Two years ago she started playing bass when she hooked up with Elly Wininger and Peggy Atwood for The Cover Girlz. Terri also performs with the Big River Band, and she and her husband Steve run a music venue in Saugerties NY called the John St Jam, where 8 handpicked (ear picked?) musicians play to a packed house in round robin style.

ELLY WININGER has been called everything from a ‘folk-blues legend’ to a ‘musical explosion.’ Getting her start in the folk revival scene of the 60’s & 70’s, Elly has been writing songs and picking guitar in the Northeast clubs and coffeehouses while producing radio shows and teaching songwriting to kids. In 2007 she released her first solo CD, “Back Eddy Blues” which has been getting airplay on Americana and folk stations all over the US, Europe, and Australia. She was chosen to perform in the “Folk DJ Favorites” showcase at the 2008 Northeast Regional Folk Alliance Conference. You can also catch her hosting “Catskill Cabaradio,” a live webcast variety show, for Catskill Community Radio out of Pine Hill NY.
